What does this indicator measure?

Violent crimes, when calculated as a rate per 100,000 population allow us to compare our communities and also determine the relative safety of our area over time.

Why is this indicator important?

Violent crime leads directly to victim injury. Additionally, fear of additional crime leads to limited mobility, physical activity and social interaction in a neighborhood.
