What does this indicator measure?

This measure represents the percent of adults 18 and older who reported smoking at least 100 cigarettes during their lifetime and who currently smoke "every day" or on "some days."

Why is this indicator important?

Smoking harms nearly every organ of the body, causing many diseases and affecting the health of smokers in general. Quitting smoking has immediate as well as long-term health benefits.
