This measure represents the number of new cases of lung cancer diagnosed per 100,000 population and is age-adjusted to the 2000 U.S. population.
Why is this indicator important?
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States and Indiana, killing over 150,000 Americans and approximately 4,000 Indiana residents every year (American Cancer Society).
